Abstract

The adsorption and diffusion of CO<sub>2</sub> in phenolic resin carbonizates prepared at final carbonization temperatures of 500, 600, and 700 °C were investigated at 20 °C and pressures of 6 to 130 kPa. The experimental data were compared with theoretical dependences obtained by numerical solution of differential equations set up based on the occluded gas model and on the model of diffusion through a pore network. The former model, which assumes that the diffusion is driven by the concentration gradient of the gas dissolved in the solid, was found to fit the experimental data better than the latter model.
