Abstract

A series of 4-(benzylsulfanyl)pyridine-2-carbonitriles <strong>2</strong> and 4-(benzylsulfanyl)pyridine-2- carbothioamides <strong>3</strong> was synthesized and their antimycobacterial and antifungal activities were tested. The prepared compounds exhibit significant activity both against <i>M. tuberculosis</i> and nontuberculous mycobacteria. The most active compounds show the MICs of 4 μmol/l. The antifungal activities of <strong>2</strong> are very weak, compounds <strong>3</strong> are inactive against all the tested fungi.
