Abstract

The kinetics of oxidative dehydrogenation of isobutyric acid has been studied in gas phase over the K<sub>2</sub>HPMo<sub>12</sub>O<sub>40</sub> catalyst. The rate of consumption of isobutyric acid and of formation of methacrylic acid and acetone depending on the degree of conversion of isobutyric acid indicated an autocatalytic reaction mechanism. A model of Mo<sup>VI</sup>-O-Mo<sup>V</sup> site has been suggested and the autocatalytic process to be due to formation of this site. <p>
