Abstract

Molybdenum oxide supported on titania is an important material for catalytic processes in petroleum industry as well as in air pollution control. A structure analysis by means of X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XANES) is reported for sample prepared by spreading of MoO<sub>3</sub> in physical mixtures with the support as well as by impregnation from aqueous solution. Analysis of the XANES region of the Mo K edge indicated that the surface molybdate has a structure similar to ammonium heptamolybdate.
