Abstract

Complexes [RhCl(PPh<sub>3</sub>)<sub>3</sub>] and [Ru(CHPh)Cl<sub>2</sub>(PCy<sub>3</sub>)<sub>2</sub>] efficiently catalyzed the dimerization of arylethynes to the corresponding 1,4-substituted enynes in aqueous environment in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate. The Rh catalyst exhibited almost exclusive preference for the formation of <i>E</i>-isomers, the Ru one exhibits strong preference for the formation of <i>Z</i>-isomers.
