Abstract

The effect of benzaldehyde and its <i>ortho</i> and <i>para</i> -OH and -OCH<sub>3</sub> derivatives on the rate of dissolution of Brass alloy in nitric acid was investigated using thermometric technique. The results were treated by two different methods. It has been found that all compounds act as inhibitors and their effect increases with increasing concentration. The <i>o</i>-OH and <i>o</i>-OCH<sub>3</sub> derivatives have the highest inhibition effect.
