Abstract

<p>Results of experimental investigation of liquid flow velocity distribution, gas hold-up, and backmixing in the liquid phase in a jet-loop reactor with chambers of square cross-section are presented. Liquid velocity profiles in the draft tubes have been described applying the boundary layer theory. Aeration rates have been found to be comparable to those reported earlier for the reactor with chambers of circular shape as well as those obtained for reactors with other types of injectors. The axial dispersion coefficients in liquid phase have been found to depend very strongly on the air velocity in the draft tubes.
